Southmount physiotherapy clinic offers vestibular rehabilitation. It is a proven and effective treatment for dizziness, vertigo (a sense of spinning or world spinning) and balance.
The vestibular apparatus in your inner ear is the balance centre for your body. It gives your brain information about your balance and orientation by sensing head position and movements. An injury to any part of this complex can cause dizziness, vertigo, imbalance and/or visual issues.
Most common vestibular problem, BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) is thought to be responsible for 50% of all dizziness in seniors. It is the most common cause of vertigo that worsens with position changes and quick movements.
Vestibular treatment can improve the above symptoms quickly with clinical intervention and at-home exercise program. Our treatment focuses on but not limited to maneuvers to correct BPPV, specific exercises to improve head and eye coordination, balance training, manual therapy for cervicogenic symptoms and home exercises.
